Whats' New

Why should I bother
 with Continuing Professional Development (CPD)?

If you were to apply for your current job now, would you get it?
Are you sure that your skills and knowledge are up to date?
Are you making the most of every opportunity, giving your best and receiving the best possible reward for your efforts?
Are you ready for the next stage in your career? If you can answer 'Yes' to all of these questions, you are probably already involved in a CPD programme.  Congratulations!

But if you've answered 'No' take a look at LWTT's IMPACT's CPD Network

Frequently Asked Questions - Degree Programme

What is Linked Work and Training Trust (LWTT) and what does it do?

LWTT is a voluntary organisation, a recognised charity and company limited by
guarantee.   Its primary purpose is to provide work-based training in Community
Learning and Development.   It is managed by a board of directors made up of
representatives of funding organisations, the University of Glasgow, students and
           independent members.

  What are the entrance requirements?

There are no formal qualifications required for entry to this programme.
Entrance is made on the basis of the candidate's ability to evidence their history
of voluntary and/or paid community development practice.  An assessment of
the candidate's ability to meet the academic demands of the course work will be
            made at interview.

  What is the degree programme?

The programme provides full time community development posts into which local
people are appointed and receive an appropriate salary.   Much of the student's
time is spend on community development work on behalf of their employer.   The
practical experience of doing the job forms the basis the education and training
programme.  It is also recognised as providing work-based learning so students
achieve their qualification within the allotted time.   Over the period, there is an
equal balance between work and academic study.

  What is the time commitment?

The time commitment runs to approximately 1.5 days per week.   If you are a full
time worker this will of course mean that your time spent in your workplace will
amount to the balance of 3.5 days per week.  The other time commitments are as
            follows:

Year 1                4 Training Blocks (1 full week each)
Years 2 & 3      3 Training Blocks ( 1 full week each) & 1 Placement (Ten Full Weeks)
