Why should I bother
 with Continuing Professional Development (CPD)?

If you were to apply for your current job now, would you get it?
Are you sure that your skills and knowledge are up to date?
Are you making the most of every opportunity, giving your best and receiving the best possible reward for your efforts?
Are you ready for the next stage in your career? If you can answer 'Yes' to all of these questions, you are probably already involved in a CPD programme.  Congratulations!

But if you've answered 'No' take a look at LWTT's IMPACT's CPD Network

Linked Work & Training Trust won a prestigious award for "Best Practice in Regeneration 2003"  for our outstanding example of regeneration.

The award, made by the British Urban Regeneration Association, recognises the Trusts work in providing degree level training to people excluded from the normal routes into Higher Education.

Cathy Peattie, MSP, Chairperson of LWTT says:-

"It was a great accolade to have the work of the Trust recognised by the British Urban Regeneration Association which awarded the Trust only one of five UK wide awards and the only winner in Scotland.   The award ceremony was held in London and it was my privilege and honour to accept it on behalf of the Trust from John Prescott, Deputy Prime Minister.  This success can only attributed to the level of commitment and inspiration among LWTT Directors, workplace supervisors, students, staff and mentors".

BURA says:-

"The LWTT model is an outstanding example of a project that builds the capacity of excluded communities to develop and harness their own skills, commitment, experience and confidence to contribute to sustained local economic and social regeneration, and demonstrates best practice".

Previous winners of the BURA award have included large scale regeneration projects like the Millenium Link, Union Square in North Shields and the riverside in Newark.

Many thanks to Calum Guthrie of The Scottish Council for Voluntary Organisations (SCVO) who nominated LWTT for the award and Falkirk and Clackmannanshire Councils for hosting a Civic Reception in honour of our achievement.

LWTT needs to continue to build on its vision by continuing to develop more employment and training opportunities for those active in their own communities.
