The Standards Council will be regulating our professional development by registration of people involved in CPD at all levels, as a member of this professional body you will be expected to make a commitment to ensure that your knowledge and skills are maintained at a suitable level. A commitment to acquiring new knowledge, skills or competences to equip you for the future will also be expected of you. This will apply to all members and will be increasingly valued by employers.
CPD Benefits for you –
‘Learning agility’ is now considered a core competence of a worker’s development by many employers. The benefit of CPD can be felt when you are applying for promotion or a new job.
It builds confidence and credibility and you can see your progression by tracking and gaining formal recognition of your learning.
It focuses you on your training and development enabling you to achieve your career goals.
It allows you to accept change as a positive by constantly updating your skill set.
It allows you to be more productive and efficient by reflecting on your learning and identifying gaps in your knowledge and experience.
CPD Benefits for Employers
Many organisations are shifting the responsibility for personal development to the worker so the ability and insight to manage your own professional growth will be seen as a key strength.
It will help expand staff potential by relating theory to practice and learning to actions. It will promote staff development, this enhances staff morale and motivation and helps give a positive image to organisations
It adds value; reflection and helps staff to apply learning to their role and the organisations development.
It can be linked to appraisals; employees have evidence of their achievements throughout the year.
CPD will help you to prepare for, and cope with the challenges that will face you in the future world of work. Well developed professionals in CLD will enhance the public image of this rapidly growing and increasingly important sector.
